Is there a small country town in France that you recommend going?
You might consider Auvers sur Oise. A truly lovely town about 35 kms northwest of Paris. If you are an art lover (or even of you are not) this town was the last home of Vincent Van Gogh. He spent the last two months of his life there. Amazingly, his last residence still exists and it is open to the public (for a very small fee). The tavern where Van Gogh was well known still is in operation. Many other quite famous painters also lived in Auvers. It is located right on the Oise river, I would google it for very extensive info. This is really an art world gem and has not changed for over 100 years.
