On Harvest Moon Tree of Tranquility, the mayor still isn't giving me the quilt(left side)?

He already talked to me about it, but he still has not given me the left side. I read a bunch of walkthroughs and FAQS that told me to wait for a few days or Spring 22, but those days already passed and he never gave me the quilt. It's already Spring 27. Was I supposed to ask him about all those questions on that list when he first confronted me and showed me the legend about the tree? Or did I do something wrong? I don't feel like making another file and starting over to try to get it again.
