I have 8 hearts for chase in harvest moon tree of tranquility why wont he accept my blue feather?

i recently finished the 30 dishes for chase and i also have 8 hearts i go up to him the next day to give him the blue feather his words "oh...a blue feather. i thought if u did all 5 events and have 8 hearts he can take the feather and marry me is there anything that i am missing? if anyone know please tell me!
