Forgot password on HTC Desire?

I set my htc desire phone so that you need to enter a password to access my messages but I've forgotten what it is and can no longer view my texts. Does anyone know how I can get past this? I tried googling the problem but all i could find was people saying they couldn't remember the pattern password to get on to their phone. This doesn't help me as I only need to figure out the 6 digit code I set to access my messages. I would really appreciate any help, especially if anyone knows how i can sort this quickly as I need to see my messages pretty urgently. Thanks in advance.
